Geoplast offers a wide range of products for the construction of ventilated foundations. Our foundation solutions are suitable both for new buildings and for reconstruction projects. They offer various benefits for different project types: residential, industrial, commercial, education, as well as prefabricated construction. We designed foundation products that are lightweight, modular, and available in different sizes. Our Modulo, Minimodulo, Multimodulo, and New Elevetor are made of polypropylene, a recyclable material. Because of the material characteristics, the products are resistant, light, and easy to handle. Thanks to their technical characteristics they ensure excellent ventilation of foundations and slabs. Also, they allow the minimal thickness of concrete slab keeping the good load-bearing capacity.
The ventilated layer brings many benefits for the foundation construction in buildings. Firstly, the ventilated layer provides natural ventilation in buildings, keeping the foundations dry and mitigating the rising damp from the soil. Secondly, space between the soil and foundation slab can be used as a crawl space for infrastructure, MEP, and pipes. Thirdly, voided space serves as an insulation layer that keeps the moderate temperature of the foundation slab, preserving the stability of the concrete.
Ventilation is also an important factor for concrete slabs and roofs. The same principle of an additional ventilated layer is an excellent choice for roofs, as it allows the roof to maintain a high level of hygro-thermic comfort. This is combined with the additional benefit of acoustic isolation: the ideal product for this purpose is Minimodulo that ensures the maximum ventilation in a little space.
Geoplast plastic formworks can find its use for different parts of building construction including the building of basement walls, ramps, and ventilated foundations for fridge cells. For the basements walls the recommended product is Defender, an element in recycled polypropylene that allows a perfect ventilation and a water protection.
New Elevetor is a great product to create access ramps or steps and sloping surfaces, thanks to its modularity and variable heights. Together with Modulo and Multimodulo, it can be used as a lightweight structural filling solution. Instead of gravel or expanded polystyrene (EPS) backfilling, Geoplast formworks are sustainable, time- and cost-effective. Traditional infilling requires a lot of trucks and, in case of gravel, additional mechanical equipment. Because of the high stackability and lightness, our formworks will help you to save time and logistic costs. Furthermore, thanks to the pouring of the concrete inside and on top of the formwork structure, heavy loads are allowed and performance is guaranteed overtime.
Ventilated foundations are of key importance for building of the fridge cells: in fact, the low temperature can be transmitted to the structure and freeze the water contained in the ground, causing warps and cracks on the floor. A ventilated foundation with Modulo can avoid this situation.
In the modern building sector, a radon mitigation system is more and more requested, as this kind of gas is very dangerous for our health. The radon is a radioactive gas that is naturally present in the subsoil: if we are outdoor its presence is inoffensive but it can become dangerous when we are in a closed space without adequate ventilation. For this reason, it is important that good ventilation is ensured, especially in the foundation layer, in order to lower all the vapor and harmful gases from the soil.
