Residential building, Queensland, Australia
Geopod required up to 96% fewer units than competitor waffle foundation modules, streamlining logistics for a residential building in Queensland, Australia. The project was completed together with our Australian partner FormDirect.
Construction involved a single-story family home on expansive clay soil. Our local team proposed Geopod - a permanent formwork made from recycled plastic, designed for constructing lightened waffle foundations.
Thanks to Geopod’s large 109 × 109 × 30 cm pods, only 70 modules were needed for the 100 m² building. This cut the number of components by up to 96% compared to competitor waffle foundations and also enabled:
- Streamlined logistics and storage through its modular, stackable design,
- Reduced labor time thanks to quick and easy manual assembly,
- Uniform load distribution, ensuring structural stability,
- Minimized waste, using 100 % recycled and recyclable plastic materials.
