ZAA’s H-FARM: 97 % less transport for foundations with New Elevetor

ZAA’s H-FARM 97 % less transport for foundations with New Elevetor

Zanon Architetti Associati (ZAA) used Geoplast New Elevetor at the H-FARM to build foundations with 97 % less transport, increasing the project’s sustainable profitability.

ORDER NEW ELEVETOR

Zanon Architetti Associati (ZAA) designed the H-FARM Campus School District in Treviso as one of Europe’s leading innovation hubs beside the River Sile that brings together education, sports, start-ups, and large green spaces. To match this ambition, the foundations were built using Geoplast New Elevetor, reducing transport by 97 %.

Gravel backfill: increased transport cost and environmental impact

The project required backfilling of the 25.000 m² ground floor slab at two different heights: 105 cm and 125 cm. Using traditional materials such as gravel would have required 1.250 truckloads, resulting in high transport and installation costs. The client needed an innovative foundation solution that was more effective, cost-efficient, and aligned with the project’s sustainability goals.

Geoplast New Elevetor: 97 % fewer truckloads for the ground floor slab

Our experts suggested using New Elevetor for the ground floor slab, as it offered multiple advantages for the project’s sustainable profitability:

• Up to 97 % fewer truckloads
Using New Elevetor reduced logistics from 1.250 to just 38 truckloads, significantly lowering transport costs and carbon emissions.
• Adjustable modular design
The system’s height-adjustable elements (105 cm and 125 cm) easily adapted to the required foundation levels.
• Faster installation
Lightweight recycled plastic modules simplified handling and installation without mechanical tools or heavy machinery, improving on-site efficiency.
• High load-bearing performance
New Elevetor provided a compressive strength of up to 5.000 kg/m², supporting the building’s operational loads.
• Integrated crawl space
The void beneath the slab created an inspectable crawl space for MEP routing and vapor mitigation.
• Enhanced sustainability
By reducing the use of gravel and being made from recycled plastic, New Elevetor minimized raw material use and embodied carbon, aligning with the project’s environmental goals.
