Aquabox creates five underground storage tanks for Parque del Agua
Parque del Agua required an efficient underground water management solution to support different technical water uses across the park.
Aquabox was used to create five underground technical tanks for water transfer, clarification, irrigation, and potable water, providing a total net storage volume of 3,883 m³. The two-level installation has a total height of 1.60 m and covers an area of 2,528 m².
The underground installation allows the tanks to be integrated beneath usable park areas without affecting the surface. Rainwater and runoff can be captured and stored for irrigation and other technical uses, reducing reliance on the municipal water network while helping manage heavy rainfall events.
With a 96% void ratio, Aquabox maximizes the storage capacity within the excavated volume, reducing the amount of soil extraction required. Its lightweight, stackable modules can be manually assembled directly inside the excavation, eliminating concrete pouring and the need for cranes or heavy lifting equipment.
The modular solution also adapts to different site requirements, while its structural strength and inspectability ensure reliable long-term performance and maintenance.
