Drainroof: one product solving your green roof problems
28 January 2026
• Drainroof is a high-performance drainage and water retention solution developed specifically for green roofs.
• Drainage, water storage, and aeration. No compromise.
• Replace complexity and failure risk coming from standard drainage solutions with performance by choosing Drainroof.
USE DRAINROOF NOW
Drainage and water retention without saturation risk
Most green roof solutions either drain water quickly but dry out fast, or they store water but risk root suffocation and runoff overload.
Drainroof resolves this by draining excess rainwater immediately, while storing water within a retention layer, and releasing it gradually during dry periods. Used with Geotextile, Drainroof ensures stable filtration and long-term performance, reducing clogging, one of the most common failures in other drainage solutions.
Lighter than you think
Commonly chosen drainage layers rely on gravel, significant weight increase for roofs, or they go for other plastic solutions, that on the other hand, frequently lack aeration.
Drainroof integrates pumice stone and volcanic lapillus, solidified lava fragments, creating a structure with around 60% air volume inside the water storage layer. This allows oxygen to reach plant roots while maintaining water availability.
One solution for all roof types
A common problem with different green roof typologies is the need for multiple products. That increases design complexity, material coordination, and installation errors, which is the reason most people abandon the idea of implementing vegetations.
Drainroof can be used for both extensive green roofs with shallow substrates and minimal maintenance, as well as intensive green roofs supporting grass, flowers, and small shrubs. The same solution can be applied based on different soil depths and vegetation needs.
Why is Drainroof better?
• Fewer layers,
• Lower permanent load,
• Lower failure risk,
• Reduced structural stress,
• Healthier root environments,
• Consistent performance across heavy rain and drought cycles.
