The entire warehouse had to keep a <strong>constant temperature of\u00a0 -25\u00b0C<\/strong> in order to guarantee the food quality during all operations, before packaging and transport.\r\n\r\nUnless countermeasures are taken, it is very likely that in negative cold storages\u00a0the cold reaches the ground, lowering its temperature to below 0\u00b0C. The consequence is the freezing of the soil and a volume growth of the groundwater. This effect, known as\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Frost_heaving\">frost-heaving<\/a><\/strong>, may cause several damages, as\u00a0cracks or floor deformations and malfunction or even failure of the cold storage room with consequent damages to goods.\u00a0It is therefore crucial to prevent this phenomenon <strong>efficiently<\/strong> and <strong>cost-effectively<\/strong>.\r\n<h3>Solution<\/h3>\r\nThe traditional methods to prevent frost-heave are underfloor heating systems (electrical resistances or Pumped <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ethylene_glycol\">Fluid-Glycol<\/a>) or forced ventilation. They both are very expensive, as they involve a relatively high initial investment and\/or a high life-cycle cost. <strong>Natural ventilation<\/strong> is a method for frost-heave prevention that has the advantage of being <strong>inexpensive<\/strong> in construction and requiring low if any maintenance.\r\n\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.geoplastglobal.com\/en\/products\/foundations\/new-elevetor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Elevetor<\/a>, Geoplast permanent crawl space formwork up to 3 m,\u00a0is particularly suitable for cold storages&#8217; natural ventilation, as it allows to create <strong>an open<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>void in all directions. <\/strong>An\u00a0<strong>efficient\u00a0and\u00a0reliable natural\u00a0ventilation<\/strong>\u00a0is\u00a0thus\u00a0guaranteed. In this case\u00a0New Elevetor was the safest and most cost-effective way to avoid frost heaving.\r\n<h3>Product used<\/h3>\r\nIn Teolo were used <strong>3000 sqm.<\/strong> of New Elevetor H125. It allowed the creation of a ventilated cavity beteween the ground and the last layer of the building package, in order to completely eliminate moisture. Moreover, it will enable to <strong>avoid the formation of warps and cracks<\/strong> on the floor of the refrigeration building both at low and medium temperatures. The foundation formwork was very easy and fast to install, it was dry walkable during the setup operations and will guarantee an high load bearing capacity of the entire foundation.\r\n<h3>Team<\/h3>\r\nThe company chose Geoplast because of its experience in the field of fridge cells and warehouses.
