It is, therefore, important to garden for the future.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nWater-wise gardens<\/strong> focus on plant varieties that thrive with little water, so they cut down\u00a0water usage while being still beautiful.\u00a0It is sometimes assumed that water-wise planting means only using succulents or aloes, but this is not necessarily the case, and there are many species that may not be considered \u2018succulent\u2019 but are nonetheless beneficial in their own way to help you conserve water in your garden.\r\n\r\nA list of the top 10 water-wise plants<\/strong> could therefore be:\r\n

  10. Succulents<\/a><\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\nIn order to create gardens that dramatically lower their watering requirements, as well as reducing their maintenance costs, you will then need to follow some tips:\r\n

    • Go\u00a0indigenous,<\/strong>\u00a0planting what occurs naturally in your area. Exotic plants often need more water;<\/li>\r\n \t
    • Identify\u00a0microclimates<\/strong>\u00a0in your garden and position plants in areas best suited to them;<\/li>\r\n \t
    • Group plants with\u00a0similar water need<\/strong>\u00a0together so you don\u2019t overwater less-thirsty plants while attending to the thirsty ones;<\/li>\r\n \t
    • Use\u00a0mulch<\/strong>\u00a0to stop moisture escaping;<\/li>\r\n \t
