But perhaps this rich tradition inspired too many architects for one country to support.\r\n\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.domusweb.it\/en\/architecture\/2014\/06\/17\/monditalia.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Monditalia<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; one of the three exhibitions prepared for 2014\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.labiennale.org\/en\/Home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Venice Architecture Biennale<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; tweeted out a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/monditalia\/status\/460748591007408128\/photo\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">graphic<\/a>\u00a0showing the number of architects, per inhabitant, in 36 countries around the world. According to this,\u00a0<strong>for every 414 Italians, one is an architect<\/strong>. This high percentage was confirmed also by a report\u00a0from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ace-cae.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Architects\u2019 Council of Europe<\/a>, which shows that <strong>27%<\/strong> of all the architects on the continent are licensed in Italy &#8211; that amounts to <strong>153,000 architects<\/strong>, which is 50,000 more than there are in the U.S.\r\n\r\nAlthough if probably a &#8220;golden ratio&#8221; of architects to inhabitants does not exist, such a high concentration of architects means stiff competition for a limited number of jobs and often the need to emigrate abroad.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Results from a survey of members of the Architects\u2019 Council of Europe.
