Geotub project: San Francisco Airport Terminal 1

San Francisco Airport Terminal 1 Redevelopment

Originally opened in 1963 as the “South Terminal”, the Terminal 1 facility is the oldest passenger terminal in use at SFO. The project plans the demolition of the existing area and the reconstruction and redevelopment of a new Terminal 1 Center and Boarding Area B. The new boarding area B will be provided with 24 fully-operating gates, among which 6 will accommodate international arrivals. Then, connection walkaways located post-security will provide easy access to International Boarding Area A and Boarding Area C.

This is a $2.4 billion project that is going to be completed from 2016  to 2024. The new Terminal 1 will be a 500,000 square foot boarding area (46.451 sqm. ca.), that is anticipated to receive at minimum an Environmental LEED© Gold certification.

Geoplast contributed to the construction of Terminal 1, Boarding Area B, with Geotub our reusable formwork system in ABS technopolymer for circular and oval columns. The works, that intended to build a series of round concrete columns for the reconstruction of New Terminal 1, were commissioned by  WEBCOR Builders, who chose Geoplast and gave us the opportunity to use our light and reusable formwork, to achieve this project with success.
